Is mean average? Does mean mean average? What is average?
There are three types of averages, these are mean, median and mode
When only average is mentioned is normally mean the mean which is the average value in a set of numbers is the middle value, calculated by dividing the total of all the values by the number of values.
When we need to find the average of a set of data, we add up all the values and then divide this total by the number of values.
Calculating mean average
How to calculate mean average: To calculate the mean average of a set of numbers, add all of the numbers together and then divide by the number of items in the set.
For example, if you have the set of numbers: [1, 2, 3, 4, 5], you would add them together (1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 = 15) and then divide by 5 (the number of items in the set) to get 3 as the mean average.
The mathematical notation for mean is x̄ = (x1 + x2 + x3 + ... + xn) / n where x̄ is the mean, x1, x2, x3, ..., xn are the individual values in the set, and n is the number of values in the set.
